Textiles - Hand-Stitched Teddies
Our Year 9 Textiles students have been busy designing and creating their very own hand-stitched teddy bears. Beginning with pieces of fabric and a pattern, the girls carefully cut, pinned and stitched each section before adding stuffing and the finishing details that gave every teddy its own unique personality.
This project required patience, precision and perseverance as students developed important practical skills, including hand stitching, following a pattern and safely working with Textiles equipment. They also had the opportunity to make creative design choices when adding features such as the eyes, noses, paw pads and colourful ribbons.
The finished teddies are a wonderful reflection of the care and effort the girls put into their work. Although they began with the same basic design, each teddy developed its own character and became a special, handmade creation.
The project demonstrated that Textiles is about much more than sewing. It involves planning, problem-solving, creativity and learning how to transform an initial idea into a finished product.
Congratulations to all the girls on their beautiful teddies.
