On Friday, the Sacred Heart community came together to celebrate the Feast of the Visitation — a day of special significance for the RNDM sisters, many of whom were able to join us in person. Each year, we reflect on the Gospel of Luke’s account of Mary’s visit to her cousin Elizabeth and consider its meaning in our lives today.
This year, our reflection (written by Ms Duckett, RNDM Partnership in Mission Leader) centred on two questions: Why did Mary make this journey? and What does it mean for us?
The journey we are called to may not be a physical road through the hills of Judea. It might be something quieter. More personal.
A conversation you’ve been avoiding.
A friendship that needs mending.
A risk you've been hesitant to take.
A step toward helping someone — even when your own path is difficult.
Whatever that journey is, let Mary’s story inspire you.
If a young, pregnant and likely frightened girl from Nazareth could walk nearly 130 kilometres through danger and uncertainty to be there for someone else — trusting that God would walk with her — then maybe we can take that first step, too.
Maybe we too can show up for someone who needs us.
