Always striving upwards

Deputy Principal - Students

This Sunday marks the beginning of National Child Protection Week. The theme this year is “Shifting the conversation to action”.

Each of us plays an important role in helping our children and young people feel, and be, safe at home, at school, at the sporting club, youth group, online and wherever they engage with community life. We all want our children and young people to thrive and be healthy. Here are some ideas to support families empower children and protect them from harm …

Safe at home: if you are worried that someone you know may not be safe at home, you can approach the conversation in a way that feels right for you … ask the question, listen (remember, abuse is never their fault) and believe them. Support is available via 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732) or check out: areyousafeathome.org.au.

Safe online: the eSafety Commission website offers a wealth of information and support for parents, younger children and youth (https://www.esafety.gov.au/). ThinkUKnow is a valuable website with parent resources in a range of community languages (https://www.thinkuknow.org.au/resources-tab/parents-and-carers)

Protecting and educating our young people is best achieved in partnership.
