Raising resilient young women can be challenging in a time where young people have so many influences and sources for information beyond their families.
The Federal Government’s social media restrictions recognises the significant and constant influence of social media and has endeavoured to place some barriers and protections for young people.
We recognise the importance of providing a range of supports for our families. Across the year, you will receive notifications for SchoolTV special reports. SchoolTV is an Australian wellbeing initiative that we hope you will access not just when there is a notification, but also as a resource when you are looking for information on various topics.
We also value face to face relationships and provide a range of supports for your young people …
Our Counselling team provides school-based, short-term support for students as they navigate adolescence and challenges with a focus on school-related matters. They know when to refer the young person onto more specialised or longer-term supports.
Our Director of Student Wellbeing follows student data and research to ensure that what we do is innovative, relevant and effective. We are particularly focussed on student engagement and attendance - learning is compromised when attendance is low or sporadic.
The Pastoral Care Worker is focussed on school engagement and student connectedness – building a sense of belonging and motivation to come to school every day.
Each Year Level Leader provides support each day to our students and deliver a social emotional learning program that recognises where they are in their journey and shapes the learning activities to suit.
Homeroom teachers work to get to know each of their students so they can pick up when the student is doing well, and when they may need a bit of a lift or targeted conversation.
Our message is that whatever level of support your young person needs – from a caring adult at school who is aware of their particular pastoral needs, to more individualised support – it is available.
Let’s give the young person the chance to reach out to their preferred support person; then the adults can step in to assist!
