Year 12 RE Vinnies Visit

Our Year 12s had the chance to learn from some Vinnies representatives who spoke to us about their experience of being volunteers. The session really opened our eyes to the significance of compassion, service and helping people who struggle. It was good to listen to how much difference they have made in their community and this inspired us to think about how we can keep on helping others after we leave school. As we get ready to finish our schooling years, the session has motivated us to volunteer.

    Year 7 RE Class Masses

This term, our Year 7 students studied the parts of the Mass in RE, culminating in each class planning its own Mass. Students took hold of many elements, selecting the music, writing the Prayers of the Faithful, producing Mass booklets and preparing decorations. Year 7 Blue and Year 7 Green's Masses were celebrated by Fr Andrew McCarter. Having learned the meaning behind each part of the liturgy, the students approached their celebrations with genuine reverence and maturity, leading their peers in prayer with care and respect. Congratulations to these classes, and thank you to the RE teachers who supported them throughout.

Year 8 RE Grandparents Outreach Activities

Throughout Term 4, our Year 8 students are putting their faith into action as part of their RE unit, Living a Christian Life. Reflecting on how they can make their world a better place by building stronger connections with our grandparent community, each Year 8 class is planning and hosting an interactive morning or afternoon tea for the grandparents of its students. Working in small groups, students are taking responsibility for many aspects of the event, including designing activities that bring the generations together. Held during RE lessons, these gatherings offer a wonderful opportunity for conversation, connection and shared stories. Following the events, students will reflect on their experience through a video reflection task. We thank all the grandparents who have joined us or will be joining us this term, and we look forward to celebrating the care and hospitality our Year 8 students have shown.
