Year 12 Retreat - Hearts that Listen, Hands that Act

On our first day of the year, our Year 12 students travelled to Anglesea for their annual retreat — an important milestone at the beginning of their final year of schooling. The retreat provided a valuable opportunity for students to step away from the busyness of daily life, strengthen connections with peers, and reflect on the responsibilities and opportunities that come with being the senior leaders of our College.

Throughout the retreat, students were invited to engage deeply with our 2026 school theme, “Hearts that Listen. Hands that Act.” Through guided reflection, shared experiences and moments of quiet, they explored what it means to listen attentively to others and to respond with compassion, integrity and purpose — in their friendships, their learning and their leadership.

The retreat concluded with a meaningful liturgy that brought together prayer, symbol and ritual. During this celebration, students offered prayers for the Church, for staff and students, for those who feel unseen or unheard, and for those who have been affected by tragedy and loss in our world. A significant highlight was the presentation of the Year 12 badges, symbolising trust, responsibility and the call to lead by example throughout the year ahead.

The liturgy also included a candle reflection ritual, inviting each student to consider how they are called to be a light for others — through small, everyday actions guided by kindness, courage and justice. As the candles were lit and placed together, students were reminded that even small acts, when grounded in love, can make a meaningful difference.

The Year 12 Retreat was a grounding and affirming experience, offering our senior students space to reflect, connect and begin their final year with intention.

We look forward to seeing how our Year 12s continue to live out the call to be a community of hearts that listen and hands that act in the months ahead.
