A Community of Learners Off to a Great Start

It has been wonderful to see the strong start our students have made across the College this term. Our Year 7 students have settled in beautifully, forming new friendships, engaging confidently in classes and embracing the routines and expectations of secondary school with enthusiasm and resilience. They began their secondary journey with an intensive IT Bootcamp, developing the essential skills needed to confidently and effectively use their laptops for learning.

At the other end of the journey, our Year 12 students have truly hit the ground running. They have returned with focus, maturity and a clear commitment to their learning, setting a positive example for the wider student community as they embark on their final year.

Across all year levels, students are actively engaged in learning, demonstrating curiosity, collaboration and a willingness to challenge themselves. This strong engagement is guided by the MACS Vision for Instruction, which continues to shape teaching and learning across the College. Through a focus on clarity, high expectations and evidence-informed practice, teachers create purposeful learning environments where every student is known, supported and challenged to grow.

This year, we are introducing Learning Protocols to further support student success across the College. These evidence-based practices help create consistent, focused learning environments, improving engagement, understanding and learning outcomes for all students. The REACH Learning Protocols are highly visible in every classroom and are attached to this newsletter. Download Learning Protocols

Looking ahead, Year 7 and Year 9 students will complete NAPLAN assessments from Wednesday 11 March to Monday 16 March, and Learning Conversations will be held on Monday 23 March and Tuesday 31 March. Further information and booking details will be available on PAM later this term.

We are proud of the positive start our students have made and look forward to the continued learning, growth and success the year ahead will bring.
