Year 8 Student Wellbeing Action Group (SWAG)

This month, a small group of Year 8 students met with me, Ms Stoforidis (Year 8 Gold Homeroom teacher) and Ms Formoso (Year 8 Purple Homeroom teacher) at our inaugural meeting, created to help Year 8 students have a voice and agency in their learning environment. The students contributed insightful and thoughtful ideas in response to the question “What is possible?”, with the view to putting some of these ideas into action at our very next meeting. We discussed ideas to promote student wellbeing, greater collaboration, fair practices and clearer communication, and investigated some of the notable differences between Years 7 and 8 from the students’ perspective. I look forward to developing our discussion further and creating specific strategies that we can recommend to both students and teachers in our year level.

This group meets on a Wednesday Day 8 lunchtime in E18. New members are welcome to join.
