Visit from Sister Mary McInerney, RNDM
Earlier this month, the Year 8 students were privileged to hear from Sister Mary McInerney, RNDM, who spoke about the challenges Christians face in today’s world. As a member of an international congregation of women, the Religious of Notre Dame des Missions (RNDMs), Sister Mary shared the inspiring global work the Sisters do to support vulnerable communities, particularly through education and empowerment.
She focused her talk on Kenya, where the RNDMs have been serving since 1967. One powerful example she shared was the Tei Wa Ngai ("Mercy of God") program in Matuu, which provides educational opportunities for children with disabilities—many of whom would otherwise be denied access to learning.
Sister Mary’s stories were deeply moving and opened our eyes to the real struggles faced by people living in poverty. Yet, her message was filled with hope. Through the compassionate work of the RNDM Sisters, lives are being transformed and opportunities created—reminding us that every person deserves a chance to thrive.
A heartfelt thank you to Sister Mary for taking the time to visit and inspire us with her words and her mission.
