Year 12 French - Notre Dame Cathedral

On our Year 12 French excursion to the Immigration Museum, our class explored an interactive exhibition focused on the history of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Using iPads equipped with 3D-style software, we engaged with vivid images and videos from various historical periods, making us feel as though we were truly there.

Beginning with the cathedral’s construction in 1163, we interacted with virtual characters who explained the building materials used and how the workers prepared for such a monumental project. Fast-forwarding to the tragic fire of 2019, we heard from firefighters who described how the blaze began, the severity of the situation and their response efforts. Finally, we arrived at the present day, where we learned about the ongoing reconstruction efforts, led by skilled Parisians and French artisans committed to restoring this cultural treasure. The use of iPads kept us fully engaged throughout, delivering information in a fun and immersive way.

After completing the experience, we each took a moment to sit down and fill out a reflection questionnaire prepared by our teacher, Madame Bouquet, which helped us summarise and process everything we had learned. We then gathered together, laughed, took photos and shared fun facts we had picked up during the tour. Not only did we gain valuable knowledge to support our classroom learning, but we also shared a truly enjoyable and memorable day as a class.

Merci pour l'excursion!
