Anzac Day

Anzac Day Dawn Service: College Captains Lead Our Tribute

On Anzac Day, we had the opportunity of representing the College in our role as College Captains by attending the beautiful Oakleigh Carnegie RSL Dawn Service. We gathered before 6:00am in the dark surrounded by the members of the local community, and as the sun rose, the ceremony began.

We reflected upon the sacrifices made by those who served in WW1 and all conflicts throughout the following decades, and those who continue to serve in protecting our country today. During the service we lay a wreath and recited John McCrae’s poem “In Flanders Fields”.

We remembered the rich history of Australia, and the courage and resilience of those who formed a major part of our nation. We were reminded of the values that shape who we strive to be as young Australians: courage, generosity and strength. It was a moving experience that we are incredibly grateful to have been a part of, and we will continue to carry with pride our Australian history with us.

Lest we forget.
