The Year 7 students have made a wonderful start to the year, approaching all parts of College life with enthusiasm. They have now also participated in their first Outdoor Education experience – the Year 7 Discovery Camp.
From 23-27 February, students and teachers had an amazing time together in Shoreham, learning about our beautiful coastal environment on the Mornington Peninsula. Here they were introduced to camping, and an appreciation of the great outdoors. They worked together in small groups, learning to put up tents and cook over a camp stove – many students surprising themselves with how much they enjoyed these new challenges!
Students also experienced a range of fun activities during their time on camp, including surfing, exploring rock pools at the beach and stand-up paddle boarding – definitely a highlight for many Year 7s! It was great to see so many students challenging themselves to try something new; even more inspiring was the support and encouragement I saw from other students during the activities, which helped make the Year 7 Discovery Camp a really wonderful shared experience.
I look forward to seeing the Year 7s continue to grow as they approach each new adventure at Sacred Heart with the same enthusiasm.
