Year 8 students Eva, Liesel and Ayuni were recently invited by Australian leg‑spinner Alana King to attend the Women’s Test in Perth as part of The Alanas Project. All three girls are members of the program and play at Oakleigh Cricket Club, where Alana serves as patron and mentor.
The Alanas Project supports young women in cricket by helping them balance sport and education while building confidence, leadership, and broader life skills. Alana believes that cricket amplifies learning through strategy, leadership, mathematics, communication, discipline, teamwork, and the understanding that diversity strengthens performance.
This memorable trip was made possible thanks to The Social Roast, a social enterprise co‑owned by Alana King. Through the sale of its coffee beans, The Social Roast funds talent development initiatives—showing that every cup can help drive meaningful change.
