International Day of Women and Girls in Science

This international day was celebrated on the 11 February, and the Library will spend the month highlighting women and girls in Science and STEM. UNESCO reported in 2024 that women made up approximately one third of the global scientific research community and remain underrepresented in engineering and computing. 22% of STEM jobs are held by women.

Library Lovers’ Day

The Library celebrated International Library Lovers’ Day all week last week with students helping out during lunchtime activities to build on the display in the Library. Celebrated worldwide on the 14 February, Library Lovers’ Day honours libraries, librarians and library staff as well as library lovers. We are very fortunate at Sacred Heart to have a well-resourced library and students that love coming onto the Library.

Book Club

We recently held our first Book Club for the year. We welcomed many Year 7s and new members as well as welcoming back our regular attendees. We had 28 enthusiastic students coming together to talk and celebrate all things books. Book Club meets every day 5 at lunchtime in the Library and is wonderfully student led by our Book Club Leaders – Jui, Sasha, Imansa and Justine. Everyone is welcome.
