Miffy in the Library

Finishing up after the journey beginning in Term 2, a group of Year 7s signed up to make their own Miffy at lunchtimes with Ms Fagan in the Library. The students had a great experience creating their individual Miffy. So much so that we have extended the group numbers for our current maker session - creating sea stars. Our Miffy maker sessions will take place again next year.

Celebrating the Class of 2026

Our foyer display pays homage to our Class of 2026. The stats: During their time at Sacred Heart, the class borrowed 3,406 books; 7 Green was the most active homeroom when it came to borrowing and Ava H. borrowed the most books – 150 in total.

The top five books borrowed in Year 7 was Then by Morris Gleitzman; Summer Unscripted by Jan Kelin; Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan; Surface Tension by Meg McKinlay and My life as an Alphabet by Barry Jonsberg.

Their taste for series evolved over the years as well. Year 7: Felix and Zelda series (Once); Year 8: Penguin Classics; Year 9: A Court of Thorns and Roses; Year 10: The Summer I Turned Pretty; Year 11: HTAV Revolutions texts; Year 12: English Pocket Dictionary.

We have been fortunate to have a number of students utilising the space for exam revision and study.

The Library Team wish our Class of 2026 all the best for Exams and the road ahead.

Lunchtime Activities

At the end of last term, all Wide Reading classes were asked to fill out a survey, giving student voice in the Library. Students were asked for their feedback on Wide Reading and Library activities and how they can be made even better.

Questions were optional and I would like to congratulate the students on their thoughtful and constructive feedback. As a result, we have begun to enhance the games that are available in the Library at lunchtimes by extending the variety of card games and asking for interest in lunchtime clubs. We also have a ‘Guilty or ‘Not Guilty jar for a question each week for students and staff to participate in.

Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks and months on our lunchtime activities.
