Year 9 Sports Coaching

On Tuesday 23 June, the Year 9 Sports Coaching class had an exciting opportunity to participate in a volleyball clinic led by professional volleyball player and former Sacred Heart student, Alyssa Kinkela.

Alyssa shared valuable insights into her sporting journey, where students gained an understanding of her experiences competing in American college volleyball, playing professionally in South Korea, and her upcoming opportunity to compete in Italy. They discussed the variety characteristics displayed by each of her coaches she has worked with throughout her career and the impact they have had on her development as an athlete and group dynamics within the team.

The session also provided students with the opportunity to ask questions, gaining a deeper understanding of the dedication, resilience, and mindset required to succeed at an elite level. Alyssa then led students through a range of key volleyball skills and concluded the clinic with a game-based activity, providing an authentic insight into the structure and expectations of a high-performance training environment.

We thank Alyssa for generously sharing her time, knowledge, and experiences with our students.
