Sacred Heart Perth Exchange
The Sacred Heart Student Exchange Program with our RNDM sibling school, Sacred Heart College Sorrento Perth, first took place in 2014.
Each year, the SHGC College Captains and Deputy College Captains partake in a student exchange program where we are first hosted by their Captains and we then return the favour when they visit Melbourne. The exchange enabled us to learn about our RNDM charism together and build connections between our two schools through the foundations the RNDM Sisters built many years ago.
We were able to visit Highgate where the RNDM Sisters established their first school in Australia, meet cute quokkas on Rottnest Island, visit the only monastery town in Australia ‘New Norcia’, and share in Sacred Heart Day with our Perth school.
Sacred Heart Day began with a beautiful Mass and was followed by food stalls, dress ups, games, karaoke and finished with a spectacular musical concert.
I definitely enjoyed their Sacred Heart Day and am thrilled I get to celebrate two this year! The whole experience helped me to step out of my comfort zone, making friends with new people and navigating new places.
We are all truly thankful to the College for providing us with this opportunity.
I hope to return back to Perth to see my newfound friends again and can't wait to host them in Melbourne, and to celebrate our Sacred Heart Day.
