Berthe Mouchette French Competition Finalists

We are thrilled to share exciting news from our French language program. Four of our talented students have been named finalists in the prestigious Berthe Mouchette French Poetry Competition, hosted by the Alliance Française de Melbourne. This is a remarkable achievement that deserves to be celebrated!

Our 2025 Finalists:

  • Tavisshi (Year 8 )
  • Saylani (Year 8 )
  • Antonia (Year 9 )
  • Amelia (Year 10 )

These students have demonstrated outstanding skill, dedication and passion for the French language and culture, standing out among thousands of participants from schools across Victoria.

Named after French-born artist and language advocate Berthe Mouchette, this annual competition has been held since 1894 and is one of the most respected French language contests in Australia. Organised by the Alliance Française, the competition invites students to recite classic and contemporary French poetry from memory, judged on fluency, pronunciation, intonation and expression.

Participating in the Berthe Mouchette Competition provides a unique opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the richness of French literature and refine their language skills in a challenging yet rewarding setting.

To our finalists—félicitations et bonne chance as you prepare for the final stage of the competition. We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!

Merci et bravo!
