As part of our Religious Education studies, Year 9 students have been learning about Biblical Prophets and Modern-Day Prophets. Recently, we interviewed Sr Brigid Arthur, a tenacious nun from the Brigidine order who has dedicated her life to helping vulnerable people. Sr Brigid was a founding member of the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project and has served as a litigation guardian for young Indigenous people and for young people seeking climate action. She is an inspiration and a perfect modern-day prophet to focus on for our studies.
Sr Brigid spoke fondly of her childhood and shared that she was blessed to grow up with loving parents and many siblings. Even from a young age, she was passionate about helping others. A key highlight from our conversation was her view on the education system, where she believes that every child should leave school feeling successful, no matter who they are or what school they attend.
As our meeting came to an end, Sr Brigid encouraged us to spread her message to the Sacred Heart community.
