On Thursday, 30 October 2025, Sacred Heart was honoured to receive an award from Monash Council recognising our outstanding efforts in the Actions for Earth Schools Sustainability Competition. This award celebrates the wonderful work of our Student Environmental Action Group and Sustainability Team in promoting sustainability and caring for our environment.
Throughout the competition, our school focused on making a real and lasting difference in the areas of waste, water, energy and biodiversity. Together, we embraced a range of initiatives — from improving recycling habits and reducing waste, to participating in Clean Up Australia Day, installing additional bike racks, cutting back on photocopying and paper use, and switching to environmentally friendly cleaning products, just to name a few.
These efforts highlight the shared commitment of our students, staff and community to protecting our planet and creating a cleaner, greener school environment for everyone to enjoy.
Monash Council commended Sacred Heart for our leadership and dedication to sustainable living. As part of the award, our school received a brand-new bike pump station — a fantastic addition that will encourage active travel and help reduce our carbon footprint.
Congratulations to everyone involved for helping Sacred Heart continue to lead the way in sustainability!
