Always striving upwards

Year 9 Maths

On Friday 12 September, our Year 9 students enjoyed an exciting Maths Escape Room incursion, which transformed the school hall into a puzzle-filled adventure. The program combined the thrill of an escape room with the challenge of Mathematics, as students worked in teams of four to complete a series of stations. Each station involved cracking codes, solving riddles, unlocking boxes and following clues, all linked to key Mathematics concepts such as algebra, fractions, measurement, probability and data.

The incursion provided more than just a test of Mathematics knowledge. It encouraged teamwork, communication and problem-solving, while allowing students to see Mathematics in action beyond the classroom. Many students commented on how engaging the experience was, describing it as fun, challenging and rewarding.

Congratulations to our two winning groups:

Session 1 winners: Ashley S, Karen Y, Mikayla C and Beth N

Session 2 winners: Jui M, Seona H, Eliza H and Rivini K

Overall, this was the highlight of the term for Year 9 Mathematics subject, and it gave our students a chance to experience Mathematics in a hands-on, creative and memorable way.
